ABOUT
Claudia S. Preza is a curator and art writer based in El Paso, TX. In 2018, Preza received her Master of Arts degree in Museums Professions with a concentration in Exhibition Development from Seton Hall University (SHU) in New Jersey. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
With almost 10 years of experience working in museums and galleries, Preza has worked with various art institutions such as Ungalleried, Modern Artifact, Flor de Barro Gallery, Art Provocateur Gallery, Pierro Gallery of South Orange, Walsh Gallery, and the Morris Museum. Currently, she is the Assistant Curator at the El Paso Museum of Art.
Her work focuses on identity and counter-hegemonic initiatives to present narratives of historically silenced individuals within the art historical canon. Preza strives to highlight the work of artists, primarily woman/femme and Queer-identifying individuals, exploring marginalized identities and showcasing often overlooked ideas.
